Your next career opportunity As a Veterinary Consultant with the Mackinnon Project, you'll have the opportunity to provide high-level whole farm consultancy and clinical veterinary services to leading livestock producers and agribusiness clients. You will collaborate with experienced veterinary academics, mentor residents and early career consultants, and contribute to the training of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students. This role offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact on livestock production, animal health outcomes, and the next generation of livestock veterinary professionals. What you will deliver: Deliver Comprehensive Whole-Farm Consultancy: Provide whole farm consultancy advice and veterinary clinical services on a fee-for-service basis, building a sustainable client base across farm systems management, animal health, livestock production and reproduction. Mentor and Train Future Veterinarians: Oversee continuing professional education offerings, supervise residents and early career consultants, and deliver hands-on skills training to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students. Conduct Applied Research: Participate in team-based research projects, prepare technical reports and publications, and translate findings into practical on-farm behaviour change. Ensure Excellence in Service Delivery: Maintain high standards of clinical care for animals and clients, meeting national and international accreditation requirements. You may be a great fit if you: You are a registered veterinarian with at least three years' experience in agricultural consultancy and clinical practice with ruminant livestock, demonstrating strong communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to mentoring and professional development. Have demonstrated experience providing consultancy services to farmers, agribusiness and government clients. Possess clinical veterinary practice experience with sheep and beef cattle. Be flexible and willing to work outside normal office hours, including weekends, to respond to urgent cases. Have the physical capability to undertake manual handling and animal restraint. Be committed to continuous professional development and compliance with University requirements. Have current vaccination status for Tetanus, Hepatitis A and B and Q fever.
