Description
Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is seeking Veterinary Doctor Assistants to join our Small Animal team! At QVC, our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for our patients and an exceptional level of service for the owners who love them. We are open 24/7 and provide both emergency care and routine treatment for all types of pets. Our Veterinary Assistants play an essential role in our success by assisting veterinarians in exam rooms, providing compassionate care for pets, maintaining hospital equipment, and providing excellent customer service to our clients. This is a full-time opportunity. Shift expectations are primarily: Monday-Sunday Morning and evening shifts. To best serve our clients and their pets, a weekly weekend shift commitment, rotating on-call shifts and select holidays are required for this position. Responsibilities: * Assist veterinarians and technicians by properly restraining pets for exams and preparing them for treatments * Perform basic in-house lab testing, nail trims, and collect urine/fecal samples as needed * Administers subcutaneous fluids, SQ injections and oral medications. * Set up and break down of surgery suites, maintain hospital equipment and general cleanliness * Educate and effectively communicate with clients to provide a positive customer service experience * Accurately fill prescriptions as directed by veterinarian and respond to client refill requests * Effectively position for and take radiographs of patients, either under the direction of a doctor or technician * Navigate database software to enter service charges and patient care notes Qualifications: * Previous experience working with and restraining animals preferred * Previous customer service experience required * Ability to lift up to 40lbs on a routine basis and occasionally lift up to 150 pounds with help of other team members; the ability to walk large dogs * Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask * Ability to work independently and as part of a team Benefits:  * 401k Matching * Medical, dental, vision benefits.  * Mental Health Benefits  * Employee Discounts * Holiday pay  * Paid time off * Life insurance  * Disability Insurance  * Shift differentials * On the job training  * Access to Online Educational Portal  * Staff Events
