Description
Company Description Greencross Mitchelton | Casual We’re looking for a casual Veterinary Nurse who enjoys variety, flexibility, and being part of a supportive team that genuinely has each other’s backs. At Greencross Mitchelton, we’re not loud. We’re not dramatic. We’re not ego‑driven. We’re a calm, caring, and slightly nerdy team who truly look after each other and our patients. If you’re tired of tense clinics, cliques, or feeling like you have to “toughen up” just to get through the day, you’ll feel comfortable here. This role also supports Greencross Lawnton, as our Practice Manager oversees both clinics. From time to time, team members help out across locations to cover shifts and support one another when needed. What it’s really like to work here People describe our team as gentle, supportive, and easy to be around. Nurses are listened to. Questions are welcomed. No one is made to feel silly for not knowing something. We work hard, but we also look after each other. If someone’s struggling, it’s noticed. If someone needs help, it’s given, no eye‑rolling, no score‑keeping. One moment that really sums us up was when an elderly client recovering from a stroke came in with her little terrier. The dog clearly needed care, but the owner was overwhelmed and working within a tight budget. Instead of rushing or judging, the team slowed down. We gently groomed painful matting once trust was built, focused on comfort and realistic care, and supported what was genuinely possible for that client. The dog was happier, the owner was relieved, and everyone walked away knowing we’d done the right thing. That’s how we work. Care, backed by action. Your nursing matters here You won’t just be “extra hands”. Our nurses are genuinely involved in: Medical and surgical cases (including enucleations) Patient care and advocacy Low‑stress handling Assisting experienced vets and soft‑tissue surgeons Supporting imaging and ultrasound work If you care deeply about patients and want your skills to count, you’ll feel valued here. We protect work‑life balance We’re serious about not burning people out. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by excellent emergency and referral clinics, so staying back late isn’t the expectation. Leadership actively steps in to protect boundaries. The mindset here is simple: If you burn out, we’ve failed. Who we’re hoping to meet You’ll need: Certificate II or Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing At least 1 year working as a Veterinary Nurse But honestly, we care far more about who you are than how many years you’ve been doing the job. We’d much rather work with someone who is: Kind Reliable Willing to learn A good teammate than someone with lots of experience and a poor mindset. A great work ethic goes a long way here. What this role looks like in real life This is a casual position, best suited to someone who: Likes flexibility and variety Is happy to pick up shifts when needed Enjoys being part of a team that shares the load We’re looking for someone who is: Flexible with hours and availability Happy to be called on when extra support is needed Comfortable occasionally working at Greencross Lawnton as well as Mitchelton Why Greencross? Alongside the Mitchelton team, you’ll have the support of the wider Greencross network, including: Strong leadership at clinic, regional, and national levels Access to CPD and development such as LinkedIn Learning, VetWebinars, and our annual Clinical Conference (in Brisbane this year) Career opportunities across a national network Great benefits including Fitness Passport, 50% off Royal Canin, 25% off Petbarn, and Pounce (groceries, fuel & more) discounts Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health support You get the close‑knit clinic feel, with solid backing behind you. A little bonus The clinic is close to a major shopping centre, there are plenty of good lunch spots nearby, and it’s easy to get to without inner‑city stress. Why choose us? Because here, Vet Nurses are respected, supported, and safe to be human. If this sounds like the kind of place you’d like to work, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
