Description

ABOUT US

At Pioneer Veterinary Services, we believe great veterinary care is built on trust, collaboration, and compassion — both in the exam room and beyond. Our privately owned, mixed animal practice spans two locations (Olds & Sundre), with a team that thrives on professionalism, mutual respect, and personalized care for each client and patient. We’ve just moved into our brand-new Sundre clinic (December 2024), and we’re growing.
As our team expands, we’re looking for someone who’s equally comfortable communicating with clients as they are supporting technical care — someone who values communication, attention to detail and who genuinely enjoys being part of a team where every role matters.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hybrid position ideal for a Veterinary Technical Assistant (VTA) who is equally energized by front-line client service and hands-on patient care. You’ll rotate between client care and back-of-house support, based on clinic needs and your strengths. We’re also open to CCS professionals who are interested in expanding their skills with light animal handling.

CLIENT CARE SPECIALIST (CCS) DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide warm, professional, and informative service at the front desk
  • Schedule appointments, manage phone/email inquiries, and check in clients
  • Handle invoicing, payments, and accurate client recordkeeping
  • Respond to main office emails, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up or delegation
  • Support a calm, respectful front-end experience during busy or emotional client interactions
  • Maintain clean and professional reception areas and exam rooms between appointments
  • Appropriately identify and document microchips, tattoos and weight of patients immediately prior to examination

VETERINARY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (VTA) DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist with patient restraint, cleaning, instrument prep, and technical support
  • Maintain clean and fully stocked exam rooms, ambulatory vehicles and treatment areas
  • Monitor hospital and kennel cleanliness throughout the day
  • Support the veterinary and RVT team with set-up and turnaround of procedures including assistance with appointments
  • Assist in animal handling and comfort for routine care
  • Assist with running lab procedures with appropriate equipment and documentation
