Description Full Time Technician Assistant Position Job Overview The technician assistant is responsible for assisting treatment technicians and senior clinicians in a variety of situations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining and restocking barns, exam rooms and assisting with patient exams. The technician Assistant will report to the Hospital Technician Manager. Responsibilities Maintain barns and exam rooms by ensuring all are neat and tidy Feed horses and check water in all barns and paddocks Setup & prepare hospital for various shift, including stocking barns with necessary supplies, including feed, hay, shavings and ensure there will be adequate supply for evening and overnight personnel For all patients on CRI fluids, prepare next set of fluids and mark with additive and date prepared. Ensure two stalls in colic barn are ready for emergencies. Stall should have the following: 3 bags of shavings Foot mat, gloves, booties Check treatment schedule Ensure there are adequate quantities of ice distributed to each treatment area. Assist veterinarian with in/out patient exams, including lameness and pre-purchase exams which consist of handling and jogging of horses Additional responsibilities as needed. Salary commensurate with experience. 8 hour shift, 5 days per week to include one evening, overnight or weekend shift. Requirements Qualifications - Our ideal candidate will have: Exceptional horse-horse handling skills, required. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts. Team oriented and hard working. Good time management and multitasking skills. Ability to work independently and effectively under stressful conditions. Confident and capable of handling patient emergency situations. Ability to lift heavy objects such as feed bags and bales of hay up to 50lbs
