We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Surgical Prep Technician Assistant to join our veterinary specialty surgical team. This role focuses on assisting with the preparation and support of surgical procedures, ensuring equipment is in working order, and post-surgical aseptic cleaning. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare surgical suites with sterile instruments and supplies. Ensure proper aseptic techniques are maintained at all times. Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the surgical area. Manage inventory of surgical supplies and restock as needed. Knowledge of steam autoclave as well as gas sterilization. Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians/assistants during surgeries with supplies needed. Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely. Communicate effectively with team members. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors. Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations. Ability to provide high quality customer service embodying a yes culture for clients. Ability to work effectively with computers, software, and electronics. Strong verbal and written communication skills Physical ability to handle and restrain animals Certification or coursework in veterinary assisting is preferred. 2+ year of experience in a veterinary hospital, with surgical experience preferred. Knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology and aseptic techniques. Ability to safely handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
