Duties: Client communication Triaging patients including basic injury/illness assessment, gathering patient information, and taking vital signs. Performing diagnostic testing including radiographs and lab work Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring Assisting in taking radiographs Giving IV & IM injections Dispensing controlled drugs Placing IV catheters and maintaining feeding tubes and urinary catheters Monitor Surgical procedures and administering anesthesia. Lab Diagnostics Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors. Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations. Ability to provide high quality customer service. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics. Requirements Physical Requirements: Ability to lift patients up to 40lbs throughout the workday with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to frequently lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat Education and Experience: At least one year of veterinary experience as an assistant or technician preferred.
