Description
Provides medical care to animals used in support of lab project goals. Exercises independent professional judgment in the assessment of animal health and consults with veterinarians and investigators regarding appropriate diagnosis, therapy, and management. Assists in the planning, implementation, and modification of animal use in experiments. Works directly with the veterinarians and interacts with staff, residents, medical students, and other personnel using the animal facilities to exchange information and resolve problems. Serves as a surgical tech in the operating room, administering anesthesia and providing postoperative care. Trains residents/fellows/temporary lab personnel in laboratory animal methodology. Responsible for maintaining anesthetic, surgical, and radiological equipment and medical supplies, including pharmaceuticals. Additional duties may be assigned as the required to fulfill departmental responsibilities. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
