JOB DESCRIPTION

The Advanced Surgery Training Centre (ASTC) at NUS is a leading institute dedicated to advancing surgical education and improving healthcare standards. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting surgical training activities, ensuring that our labs are equipped and maintained to the highest standards for surgical simulations and medical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain surgical lab equipment, instruments, and materials for various training sessions.
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning up training stations and labs before and after sessions.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and calibration of medical and surgical instruments.
  • Collaborate with trainers, surgeons, and fellows to provide technical support during training activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations in the laboratory.
  • Manage inventory of lab supplies, including ordering and restocking materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of lab activities, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for the AVA & IACUC inspection and making sure the training centre is accredited accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A diploma in biomedical science, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in laboratory management or as a lab technician, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting.
  • Familiarity with surgical instruments, medical devices, or research equipment is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment.
