Meyerdierks Consulting GmbH is a German based recruiting and consulting company, specializing in international professional and executive positions.
Our client is a medium-sized and expanding family-owned company in the maritime and inland tanker shipping sector with headquarters in Hamburg. At a total of four locations in Germany and other European countries combined, the company employs approximately 110 people (m/f/d) on land; more than 1,500 employees (m/f/d) work on board the vessels. The annual turnover amounts to approximately 500 million euros.
With a fleet of 150 tankers, they specialize in the inland and sea transport of chemicals, liquid gases, and mineral oil products in Europe. In addition, they operate a worldwide trade in bunker (marine fuel) within their own group.
For this client and in cooperation with MTC & Executive Search GmbH, we are searching for an:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As future Vetting Manager (m/f/d) you will be accountable to the HSSEQ Manager, reporting all vetting KPI, audit results and industry developments.

  • Prepare, organize and accompany vetting inspections under the SIRE2.0 and CDI schemes fleetwide
  • Follow up on inspections and respond with accurate corrective measures including cycling back into our procedures in the SMS and close cooperation with technical department
  • Promote and implement a strong safety culture on board
  • Keep short communication lines with captains and staff on board
  • Overseeing the daily activities and operations of the fleet (including cargo operations)
  • Monitor and ensure fleet compliance with the safety and operational standards, legislation and best practices with the HSSEQ Team
  • Development and review of existing procedures
  • Advice the technical department during class surveys and dry dock periods
  • Reviewing and developing navigational audit plans
  • Maintain and raise TMSA levels in line with SMS as a team effort
  • Participate in industry associations (e.g. INTERTANKO)

REQUIREMENTS:

You have a background on chemical tankers or have worked as office staff in a tanker shipping company – or equal by experience. You are driven by safety and operational excellence, passionate about chemical tankers, and a true people motivator. You find energy in traveling and nurturing your network. You are well versed in German and English.
