Amazon MGM Studios, the production and development arm of Amazon, creates content exclusively for Prime Video customers globally. We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Visual Effects Executive to join our team in Spain and drive the ambitious slate of International Originals across Spain, Italy, and other EU territories. This key role will oversee projects from development through delivery, managing VFX budgets, schedules, planning, and production partners. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams including Production, Post-Production, Business Affairs, Creative, and Development, as well as Europe's leading VFX studios and production talent. You will bring extensive experience in VFX, combining skills as a proven VFX Producer, VFX Executive, and VFX Supervisor, with a comprehensive understanding of the Spanish, Italian, and broader European scripted TV and film landscape. We're looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and well-established industry relationships. This Spain-based position requires a dynamic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual who can juggle multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will oversee numerous projects in various stages of development, production, and post-production, while engaging frequently with industry professionals. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of European content on a global streaming platform. Key job responsibilities • Manage VFX needs across the entire Spanish slate and support Italian and other EU territories as workload requires, reporting to the Head of VFX, International, in line with Amazon MGM's International Originals priorities • Lead greenlight process support for VFX through collaboration with production, creative, post, business affairs, and finance teams • Develop internal VFX assessments and breakdowns from creative materials, scripts, storyboards, and pre-vis • Support Production Companies in planning for VFX by providing guidance on methodology, breakdowns, budgets, schedules • Oversee the development of custom VFX pipelines when necessary for projects with specific creative and/or technological needs. • Build and maintain relationships with Europe's leading VFX vendors and talent, particularly in Spain, Italy, and other EU markets, supporting key negotiations and partnerships • Assist in the development and maintenance of department databases to track all aspects of project management, vendor capabilities, talent availability pools, and resource allocation across the Spanish and EU territories • Oversee vendor selection, bid evaluation, and work allocation processes • Support VFX Budget, schedules, deliverables and status reporting with production companies, review and approval • Review VFX deliverables to ensure bar raising quality standards are met • Identify and resolve production challenges while maintaining creative integrity and keeping to budget • Coordinate with internal teams for marketing, promotional, and publicity needs • Establish efficient workflow processes between creative, production, and post-production departments • Act as VFX Producer for development projects when required • Act as key partner to Amazon MGM cross-functional departments, demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills • Drive high-level problem-solving by investigating and implementing new and emerging VFX technologies in conjunction with the IO VFX team, performing statistical analysis to understand financial implications, cost efficiencies, and ROI when applying new tools and methodologies to achieve creative goals, scale production processes, and create operational efficiencies within budget parameters • Model Amazon's culture and values, serving as an ambassador for the VFX team and wider business • Foster and maintain strong relationships with key industry talent and partners across Spain, Italy, and other EU territories Basic Qualifications: - Experience in project management including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status and prioritizing tasks - Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time - Demonstrated professional experience in VFX production roles within a production company or VFX vendor environment - VFX expertise with a solid understanding of the VFX production process from script breakdown to final delivery - Fluent in Spanish and English (CEFR C1/C2) Preferred Qualifications: - Established knowledge of European VFX vendors, particularly in Spain, Italy, France, UK, and EU markets - Familiarity with VFX trends and emerging technology, particularly in the European market, with the ability to assess impact on creative, budget, and schedule - Experience in quality control and evaluating VFX work against creative and technical standards - Experience with global SVOD delivery workflows and understanding of European content distribution requirements - Proven experience in digital media workflows and post-production processes across various formats - Understanding of both European and global audience preferences Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
