Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a Vibration Specialist at Damen Naval you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and control of noise and vibration in naval ships. Your expertise will ensure that vessels meet requirements for underwater noise reduction, sonar self-noise, crew comfort, and system reliability.
You will focus on the design of flexible mountings, vibration isolation systems, and inboard noise reduction solutions. This includes conducting vibration analyses, frequency calculations, and noise compliance tests. You will work closely with engineers, suppliers, and customers to implement innovative solutions for noise and vibration control in shipbuilding, while also supporting R&D projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing flexible mounting systems and vibration isolation solutions for ship equipment and systems.
  • Performing vibration and noise analyses including frequencies, displacements, and accelerations.
  • Defining and negotiating vibration and noise requirements during proposal phases.
  • Supporting production with onboard vibration measurements, inboard noise testing, and compliance validation.
  • Advising on solutions to reduce underwater noise, sonar self-noise, and structural vibration levels.
  • Contributing to R&D projects in noise and vibration technology for naval vessels.
