JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Development, the VP Corporate Development sources and supports merger and acquisitions of hospitals and outpatient services. The VP is responsible for protecting the company’s interests by leading and managing all aspects of potential strategic transactions including evaluation of strategic fit and relevance, valuation, due diligence, and negotiation to ensure optimal structures which meet the needs of all stakeholders. The VP leads a team of cross-functional leaders in a highly complex task environment working within tight deadlines. The VP is an experienced corporate development leader, investment banker, or strategy executive with a transaction background that includes highly complex and creative transactions and an extensive industry network.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Develops and maintains a strong presence in the marketplace, including relationships with intermediaries who could augment the opportunity set for consideration – Investment Bankers, Private Equity/Venture Capitalists, Lawyers, Accountants, and Consultants.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience with emphasis on complex transactions and investments.
- Ability to identify and implement complex acquisitions, investments and alternative complex arrangements in new or expanding strategic areas and markets.
- Experience in strategic planning, investment analysis and management.
- Thorough knowledge of healthcare industry, track record of good fiscal management, business development experience, and strong external presence, high energy, decisive leadership and ability to lead by example.
- Experience indicating an ability to present complex matters to senior management to drive policy-level decision making, and then translate high level guidance into executable plans.
- Excellent communication skills, an extensive working knowledge of business/contractual law, and a win-win approach to joint ventures.
- Strategic thinker with high integrity, solid values and commitment to the mission of HCA-Development.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree – Required
- Master’s degree – Preferred
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership role – Required
