Rush Street Interactive (RSI) is seeking an experienced, visionary and hands-on Vice President, Software Engineering to lead and transform our engineering organization(s). This is a critical and strategic role, responsible for modernizing our software delivery through best in class software development practices, adopting AI to enable software development and adopting a cutting -edge architecture. This individual will work alongside the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to own and drive organizational outcomes including location, financial, and key technology strategies aligned with RSI strategic priorities. This individual will partner with business units to drive end-to-end delivery efficiencies and acceleration across product engineering by bringing experience and best in class industry process and frameworks to reshape how software development is done at RSI. The ideal individual is product-centric with high technical skills including strong communication skills. This role will help create strategies and drive execution within our broader global product and engineering organization of 350+ engineers and engineering leaders delivering high‑impact products at velocity. This position will act a trusted partner and advisor to our C-Suite. What You'll Do: Drive execution, strategy, and change management as a senior technology executive to support the CTO and RSI’s organizational strategic plans Architect and scale RSI’s platforms focusing on microservices, high-availability, performance, cost optimization, and automation. Spearhead a AI-powered productivity transformation: leverage AI toolchains and assisted coding workflows across all engineering teams. Set and deliver engineering excellence goals around CI/CD pipelines, observability, incident response, technical debt reduction, and operational KPIs in alignment with our Platform Engineering strategies Recruit, develop, and lead a global high-performing engineering organization, including senior engineering leaders and cross-functional product teams. Drive a culture of velocity and quality focused on a stellar user experience for our players: mentor engineering leaders, and encourage innovation. Partner with Product, Data Science, Security, Operations, and Executive teams to align on roadmap, technical strategy, and business outcomes. Be able to be hands-on: routinely engage in code reviews, architectural design, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting. What You'll Bring: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; solid CS fundamentals. 15+ years in software engineering with at least 7+ years in senior leadership roles in high-growth or complex enterprises. Proven experience managing large engineering organizations, at scale and across geographies and time zones. Deep expertise in cloud based architecture, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven design, and API ecosystems. Prior experience leading large-scale platform modernization (GenAI/AI experience highly preferred) Track record delivering measurable productivity gains, reducing cycle time and increasing deployment velocity. Strong bias for action — comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, with a results-driven mindset. Excellent communicator and cross-functional influencer; experienced in executive presentations, roadmap negotiation, and stakeholder alignment. High energy, empathetic leadership style: visible, approachable, and hands-on.
