Description

Here at Appian, our core values of Respect, Work to Impact, Ambition, and Constructive Dissent & Resolution define who we are. In short, this means we constantly seek to understand the best for our customers, we go beyond completion in our work, we strive for excellence with intensity, and we embrace candid communication. These values guide our actions and shape our culture every day. When you join Appian, you’ll be part of a passionate team that’s dedicated to accomplishing hard things.
We are seeking a strategic, execution-driven leader to establish and run Appian’s Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) within the CFO organization. In this role, you will create the frameworks, standards, and governance to manage high-impact, cross-functional initiatives, including rollout of new products and implementation of new pricing mechanisms.
You will report directly to the CFO and work side-by-side with leaders in Finance, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Operations to deliver programs that accelerate growth, improve adoption, and enable predictable revenue. This is both a builder and operator role: you will design the PMO from scratch and lead its most critical programs from day one.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the most important cross-functional strategic initiatives including product commercialization, new pricing model introductions, and internal process improvement efforts.
  • Build and operationalize the PMO function, including defining governance standards, project intake processes, and reporting cadence.
  • Hire a small team of program managers that will establish a culture of disciplined delivery and continuous improvement across the company’s most important initiatives.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and resource needs early, and develop mitigation plans to keep programs on track.
  • Create and maintain project reports and dashboards to provide regular updates to the CFO and the rest of the executive team on the progress of initiatives; escalate as needed to ensure that the projects remain on track.

About You:

  • 10+ years leading cross-functional programs in technology companies, preferably software; track record of building PMO or equivalent capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • Strong business and technical acumen, including understanding of product lifecycle, metering, and billing.
  • Significant experience in a leadership role, with a focus on building and managing a PMO.
  • Executive-level communication skills with proven success influencing senior leadership.

Preferred experience:

  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience reporting directly to C-suite executives.
