Description This dual-focus executive role is responsible for both driving grant-funded initiatives and spearheading the creation of our new philanthropic foundation and its endeavors. You will provide creative, client-facing relationship building and direction for programs funded by federal, state, and private funds. You will oversee the financial administration of federal, state, and private grants, ensuring that the Grants and Strategic Initiatives Department (GSID) and program staff have what is needed to accomplish their approved program initiatives, and provide oversight and consultation for funding compliance and reporting requirements. Additionally, as the strategic architect of the newly formed foundation, you will guide all legal and operational 501(c)(3) compliance steps to get the foundation up and running. You will design overarching fundraising strategies and direct philanthropic events to generate community investment, continuously supporting The Wright Center's mission as a Graduate Medical Education Safety-Net Consortium and FQHC Look-Alike. Foundation Setup & Activation (New Initiative) Foundation Establishment: Lead the legal, financial, and operational establishment of The Wright Center’s new foundation, actively managing all 501(c)(3) filings and maintaining strict regulatory compliance at both state and federal levels. Develop the necessary infrastructure to support foundation and its activities that will include but not be limited to donor, alumni, and relationship management, Fundraising Strategy: Formulate and execute comprehensive development strategies—including annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and capital campaigns—to support our FQHC Look-Alike network and Teaching Health Center model. Event Management: Plan, direct, and oversee high-visibility fundraising events and campaigns to generate revenue and boost community engagement with the enterprise. Board Development: Partner with executive leadership to recruit, onboard, and manage relationships with key philanthropic leaders and community partners to form the foundation’s inaugural Board of Directors and then maintain its diverse composition. Donor Relations: Cultivate long-term relationships with individuals, including our alumni, corporate, and foundation donors, aligning their philanthropic interests with our mission of providing whole-person care to vulnerable populations and developing the future workforce needed in the region. Grants & Strategic Initiatives Oversee research of available funding streams, maintenance of databases, and strategic planning regarding timeframes for submissions, and make recommendations for opportunities to be considered or pursued by TWC. Review grant and strategic programming guidance and provide oversight for integration of said guidance in the provision of a framework for the development of proposals that are specific, targeted and aligned with the goals and outcomes of the funder. Facilitate brainstorming sessions with relevant members of the TWC team, community partners and other stakeholders around initiatives and funding opportunities. Develop, write, and package grant proposals aligned with the requirements and expectations of the funded. Ensure the successful submission of grant proposals via grants.gov, eRA Commons and other submission sources at the regional, state, and federal levels. Oversee, and participate in, all components of a successful submission including but not limited to abstract, narrative, budget, budget narrative, attachments, evaluation plans and sustainability plans. Establish a system for ensuring compliance with all grant requirements including reporting, documentation and movement toward publication of the outcomes of the projects. Meet with various business units of TWC to gain an understanding of their needs/desires to align with potential funding opportunities, always maintaining a list of projects across a variety of interest areas. Ensure the provision of the necessary documentation to the auditors to support their annual review. Serve as TWCs authorized official and/or fiscal officer for purposes of completing grant drawdown requests and filing of financial reports in concert with the Finance Department. Build and foster relationships with potential funding sources. Co-create a running list of active grants for review with the Senior Leadership Team quarterly to provide updates on progress, deliverables, outcomes and to strategically address any barriers to implementation that may arise. Maintain compliance with organizational requirements for Board approval of grants and other funding requests. Requirements Required Qualifications Meet The Wright Center for Community Health and its affiliated entity The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education EOS People Analyzer Tool. Buy in and experience working in the EOS® model (strongly preferred). Mission-oriented; represents the enterprise in a professional manner while demonstrating organizational pride. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Eight - ten years' experience with grant administration and research experience, paired with 5+ years of demonstrated leadership in non-profit fundraising, foundation development, or philanthropic giving. Minimum of five years' experience supervising non-profit or grant administration staff. Proven management skills and demonstrated strong oral/written communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail. Proactive and action-oriented personality; strong sense of pace and urgency. Experience in health/research grant management required. Deep understanding of non-profit legal and financial frameworks, specifically navigating the compliance pieces required to establish and run a 501(c)(3) organization. Familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), FQHC Look-Alikes, and/or safety-net healthcare delivery models is highly preferred.
