Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the team with the delivery of business targets through supporting and leading the origination and execution of transactions.
  • Undertaking modelling, due diligence, financial and credit analysis of transactions and transaction opportunities.
  • Working, under supervision of deal directors, and with assistance from analysts and associates on the internal approval process through preparation of business and credit papers as part of capital allocation and credit process
  • Sector and market research and summaries for clients and internally as well as preparation of marketing material for clients.
  • Engaging with internal, and to some extent external stakeholders as part of the process of transaction origination and execution.
  • Working closely with internal functions, such as credit, compliance and others, as well as product partners to maximise increased product penetration.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures with a focus on Global Standards including conduct, AML & Sanctions that apply to the business in which the jobholder is involved.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in infrastructure finance or a closely related field such as debt advisory, structured finance, project finance, ratings advisory and/or other lending products, coupled with a strong understanding of the financial markets, gained in a corporate banking, infrastructure finance or professional services organisation.
  • Proven track record of originating, structuring, and executing complex transactions in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
  • Capacity to execute transactions end-to-end with minor supervision and able to delegate effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of financing documentation relating to non-recourse transactions.
  • Understanding of sustainable finance principles, green loans, social loans and sustainability-linked loans.
  • In depth knowledge of the Australian market, including key players, trends, and regulatory landscape.
  • Experience in the processes undertaken for a bond issuance, acquisition financing, export finance, project finance and/or refinancing.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills, with the ability to understand clients’ needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • High levels of motivation and a strong work ethic underpinned by an interest and passion for the sector.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with ability to multitask, schedule time effectively and digest and convey complex information in an understandable and succinct story.
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field; a master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, MBA) is desirable
