Overview:
The Vice President (VP) of Lab Services will provide executive leadership in developing and executing operational, clinical, financial, and quality initiatives for the system. The Vice President maintains key relationships with region leaders, service line and institute leaders, vendors, support services, federal, state, and local agencies that are essential to laboratory operations. The Vice President is responsible for the financial performance and the strategic vision of the laboratory. This role is vital in providing expert assistance and support to, as well as development of, the members of the laboratory management and team members. Responsible for managing and optimizing strategic service agreement partnerships, including partnerships with third party pathology providers. Additionally, the Vice President will lead the development and expansion of genomics testing services, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), molecular diagnostics, and pharmacogenomics.

Qualifications:
- Education: B.S. in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, required. MHA or MBA, preferred.
- Experience: Min of 5 yrs. successful leadership experience, preferably in Laboratory Services, required. Min of 8 yrs. Experience in Laboratory Services and healthcare operations, required.
- Licensure/Certification: ASCP – Technologist/Scientist - Required
- Additional Skills (preferred):
- Strong business and financial skills with experience successfully managing a large, multi-site departmental budget.
- Demonstrated success in leading projects and initiatives to improve the efficiency, quality, responsiveness, and overall level of service of Clinical and Anatomic Laboratory in an ever-changing healthcare environment.
- Demonstrates visionary leadership.
- Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a consultative demeanor to build rapport and establish credibility.
- Proven experience in managing third-party service agreements, partnerships, or vendor relationships within a healthcare or laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance, and best practices in lab services (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA).
- Demonstrated track record of overseeing teams that achieve operational and financial results, as well as delivering on patient satisfaction and a remarkable patient experience
- Excellent negotiation and partnership management skills.
- Proven experience in cultivating and managing projects to improve operational, clinical, and financial performance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
- Demonstrated success in roles with executive leadership responsibilities at a large, not-for-profit healthcare company, ideally with prior experience in North Carolina
- Ability to effectively articulate strategic and clinical initiatives and financial results and to proactively respond to questions from both Novant Health leaders and administrative partners
- Extensive knowledge and experience with requirements of key regulatory agencies and accreditation standards
- Prior progressive management experience ideally as a director of clinical and anatomic laboratory or reference laboratory.
