Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and experienced VP Municipal Engineer to join our team in Toronto, Canada. As a key member of our senior leadership, you will oversee large-scale municipal projects, lead engineering teams, and collaborate with various stakeholders to drive sustainable urban development and infrastructure improvements.

• Develop and implement strategic plans for municipal engineering projects within our forensic architecture and engineering practice, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
• Lead and mentor a a diverse team of engineers and technical professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
• Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of municipal infrastructure assignments
• Collaborate with clients, including city officials, regulatory bodies, adjusters, insurers, legal professionals and community stakeholders to investigate, analyze and report on municipal infrastructure claims and losses
• Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with complex engineering projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and municipal codes
• Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and best practices in municipal engineering to improve operational efficiency and project outcomes
• Represent the organization in high-level meetings, conferences, and public forums related to municipal engineering and urban development

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in Ontario, with the ability to gain P.Eng. registration in other provinces.
• 20+ years of experience in municipal engineering, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role, ideally working within a municipality.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale municipal projects, including budget oversight and resource allocation
• Proven track record in undertaking forensic engineering investigations, analysis and reporting to various stakeholders.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor engineering teams
• Excellent strategic planning and decision-making abilities
• In-depth knowledge of municipal codes, regulations, and environmental compliance standards
• Proficiency in CAD software, GIS systems, and project management tools
• Expertise in urban planning, infrastructure design, and public works operations
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and implement best practices in municipal engineering
