Position Summary: The Vice President of Business and Community Development supports the President & CEO in advancing the Development Corporation of Austin economic development initiatives. The leadership position helps lead program management, business development support and community development efforts in Austin and Mower County. The role will also help lead DCA’s membership retention and development, business financing programs, strategic partnerships, and economic development projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economic development or a related field.
• 8+ years’ experience in business management, economic development or related field.
• Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Extensive experience in at least two: running a business, business financing, real estate, loan administration.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with businesses and community stakeholders.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE CHARACTERISTICS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE INCLUDE:

· Track record of success in executive level management.
· Small business development, entrepreneurial counseling and education, and business lending.
· Quality of life and placemaking initiatives comparable to Impact Austin.
· State and regional economic development programs.
· Real estate development.
· Fundraising/grant-writing, nonprofit membership outreach, public-private partnerships.
· Facilitation skills and educational program development.
· Track record of taking initiatives and being a “self-starter”.
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
· Experience working in non-metro, rural communities. Southeast MN familiarity a plus.
· Live in or will relocate to the Austin, MN area.
· Experience working with diverse communities.
· Passion for the work of DCA, non-metro economic development, community development.
