About the role BAO Consulting Group is looking for a Vice President of Business Development — a senior commercial leader who brings an established book of relationships, the credibility to open doors at the CFO and PE sponsor level, and the drive to build something. This is not a management role yet — it is a high-impact individual contributor position with a direct line to firm leadership and a clear path to leading BAO's growth function. What you'll do Drive net new revenue through proactive outbound development, referral cultivation, and strategic relationship management Own a portfolio of high-priority target accounts and referral sources; develop and execute account-level pursuit strategies Engage directly with CFOs, PE operating partners, and deal teams to position BAO's capabilities across CFO advisory, ERP transformation, and transaction support Lead the proposal and pitch process end-to-end: scope development, pricing strategy, presentation, and negotiation Act as a senior external face of BAO — speak at events, publish perspectives, and elevate the firm's brand in target markets Partner with BAO's President and CGO on firm-wide revenue strategy, market prioritization, and service line expansion Identify and develop strategic channel partnerships with PE firms, lenders, law firms, and other referral ecosystems Provide market intelligence to consulting leadership on client needs, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities Mentor and guide the Director of BD; help build the foundation of a scalable growth function Qualifications 12+ years of progressive BD or client development experience in professional services consulting, advisory, or financial services Proven ability to open, develop, and close complex, multi-month professional services engagements Existing senior-level relationships with PE sponsors, CFOs, or finance executives — ideally in the Texas market Deep fluency in CFO advisory, finance transformation, or accounting services; ability to engage credibly in technical client conversations Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen; ability to construct and price complex engagements Demonstrated experience working in or alongside a boutique or founder-led firm Executive presence, polished communication, and a low-ego, high-output orientation Preferred qualifications Former consulting firm Senior Manager, Director, or BD leader Established PE sponsor network in Texas (DFW and Houston corridors) Experience building or contributing to a BD function from an early-stage infrastructure Company benefits Medical, Dental & Vision - comprehensive coverage for you and your dependents. 401(k) with Employer Match - we invest in your future, not just your clients'.
