JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Medical Practice Joint Venture Management (“VPJVM”) works closely with Strategy, Business Development, and other system executives to execute joint venture growth strategies that focus on acquiring successful physician practices which are typically large multispecialty and single specialty groups.
The VPJVM must have the passion and presence to support the implementation of the statewide strategy and demonstrate RWJBH commitment towards its investment practices. The VPJVM will facilitate building a great culture and lead without ego in a way that is approachable to all levels of RWJBH and investment practice leaders, physicians, and employees. The VPJVM monitors and advises investment practice leadership about strategic growth plans, financial and operational performance, and integration with RWJBH programmatically. The VPJVM must be entrepreneurial, hands-on and financially savvy who is driven to ensure that all assigned practices maintain the RWJBH standards of performance for quality, service, growth, profitability and clinical program participation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. MBA, or like advanced degree, preferred
  • Eight plus years of senior level strategy business development leadership experience in managing the growth and development of a multi-location enterprise, health system experience valued
  • Experience in strategy or business analysis including market, operational and/or financial assessments
  • Leads by example and shares the RWJBH values, mission and vision
  • Helps build a great culture; lead without ego, be approachable to all levels of employees and communicate clearly the passion, commitment, and energy that management has towards its employees

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in partnership with RWJBH Development leadership to build the joint venture portfolio and achieve overall goals for acquisitions, growth, and financial/operational performance
  • Participate in developing acquisition leads, the preparation of marketing materials, pitch meetings and calls, and joint venture relations
  • Support due diligence efforts on assigned acquisitions and development opportunities
  • Serve as primary relationship manager with assigned practices and their administration that nurtures the RWJBH-practice relationship and integration over time
  • Develop pre-closing revenue, gross margin, controllable expense targets, KPIs, and goals for assigned portfolio practices that ensure that these goals are met
  • Ensure successful onboarding of assigned portfolio practices
  • Improve shareholder value by developing short-term and long-term business plans to increase growth and improve financial performance
  • Support and assist in the development of assigned practice capex programs, budgeting, and execution.
  • Participate in developing practice operational policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and manage the financial reporting for the assigned practices
  • Work with all RWJBH departments in preparation of formal business proposals, investment reporting and operational planning, including but limited to Marketing, IT, HR, Compliance, Legal, Accounting, Populations Health, and Managed Care Service
  • Attend approved national and statewide conferences, and regularly read and listen to web programming to improve market intelligence and relevant knowledge related to responsibilities
