Vice-President, Operations Canada
The position of VP Operations, Canada, reporting to the CEO, is accountable to provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of business opportunities, which will maximize revenue and enhance shareholder value for Dumas Contracting Ltd.

Achieving our operational targets on time and on budget, adding value for our customers is a top priority, and is the VP Operations’ key challenge.
Taking on a lead role for Dumas as a member of the senior management team, you will promote and champion the development and execution of the company operational excellence philosophy.
Achieve 100% of 2019 Contribution Margin % of Revenue while continuously improving Dumas’ global competitive position as the leading underground mining construction, development, and production contractor in the Americas.
DAY-TO-DAY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Analyze potential revenue opportunities which will meet or exceed the targeted EBITDA objectives
- Manage multiple business opportunities simultaneously
- Implement a marketing plan that will leverage the company’s core capabilities
- Manage complex contract negotiations with current and potential clients in conjunction with the company’s senior management team
- Institute initiatives which will enhance current client relationships and service
- Develop the necessary staffing levels and organization structure to provide prompt and reliable service to clients
- Working closely with the operations team, participate in the resolution of complex issues which will maintain a positive ongoing relationship with clients
- Participate in the tendering process, estimating, costing, engineering groups and technical services to provide timely project bids and support to operations teams
- Working closely with the financial group, manage the budgeting/cost process to ensure proper integration of financial information
- Provide solutions to client concerns which may be unique to situations
- Develop and implement plans which will provide regular communications with the clients
- As part of the senior management team, participate in problem solving concerning overall business issues relative to the performance of the company.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
- Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized institution will accelerate your impact and value to the growth of the business.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario would be considered an asset
- At least 10-15 years specific experience in the mining industry
- You have excellent command of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management.
- Your integrity and reputation stands firm with your proven track record to reduce safety risk and ensure the organization stays the course on key safety service offerings.
- Achieving production and business goals, will ultimately allow you and the management team to build and deepen relationships of trust with existing and potential clients.
- You have demonstrated a high level of cultural awareness throughout your career as an underground mining professional.
- You can sell a unique and innovative business excellence/continuous improvement approach to the management team and the production crews in the field.
- You can leverage your impressive network of mining executives, managers and directors, suppliers and partners to obtain high-level business intelligence.
