Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own large budgets, including monitoring purchasing expenses, building and revising budgets for all communities under construction.
  • Participate in developing feasibility budgets for prospective land acquisitions
  • Build out a formalized estimating function within the Purchasing department
  • Benchmark against best practices and improve procurement procedures, with well-documented critical path schedules to promote the highest levels of effectiveness and efficiency
  • Responsible for all labour and material acquisition. Lead the development of clear performance, compliance, and quality standards for each trade/supplier.
  • Lead an approximately 18-person team, including talent identification, recruiting, and team performance and development
  • Cultivate, develop and maintain positive, participative relationships with trade partners and suppliers with an ongoing commitment to reducing costs, increasing safety and quality with an eye for continuous improvement
  • Seek opportunities to mitigate or eliminate costs over and above those of a standard house design caused by site-specific conditions.
  • Remain current on innovative products, construction techniques, regional disparities in trade/supplier costs, and trends affecting the home building industry with the lens of sustainability and ESG.
