The Asia Group (TAG) is now accepting applications for a Vice President to join our Australia Practice focusing on defense and national security clients. This role is based in Canberra, Australia.     TAG is a leading strategic and capital advisory firm that positions clients – ranging from Fortune 100 multinationals to innovative startups – for success in established and emerging markets across the Indo-Pacific region. Our diverse team possesses decades of government, private sector, and military experience with a work ethos that emphasizes teamwork, collegiality, creativity, entrepreneurialism, and mentorship.     The Vice President will be an integral member of TAG’s Australia Practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our growing portfolio of defense clients. The successful candidate will lead client engagements operations, communications, governance and industry engagement with a focus on crafting and leading market access and expansion campaigns, enhancing brand equity, and offering creative solutions.     Our ideal candidate will lead client engagements and bring contemporary professional experience in the defense sector, preferably in both business and government. The candidate must possess a strong grasp of Australia’s  Naval and AUK US-related defense industry, its defense capability, infrastructure, and acquisition/contracting processes, as well as the ability to convert this knowledge into actionable outcomes and recommendations for key clients.     Priority will be given to those applicants with demonstrated experience in client and project management, business development, and senior stakeholder engagement.   * Manage day-to-day defense client work  streams and serve as client engagement lead and primary liaison * Monitor relevant political and sector-specific developments and deliver timely written and oral analysis and substantive briefing to clients andTAG leadership * Manage, plan, and execute client engagements and activities in Australia, including events and senior level visits * Support client objectives including through developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies and strategic communications plans, and by facilitating the establishment of institutional partnerships * Support AustraliaPractice leadership by developing client servicing strategies and contributing to corporate strategy development and implementation * Cultivate and maintain a robust network of stakeholder relationships in Australia, including across industry, government, and academia relevant to client needs * Monitor, advise, coordinate and execute on tender opportunities from Commonwealth and State governments * Advanced degree (e.g.MA/MBA/MPP)and 10 plus years’ relevant work experience * Experience in the defense industry, public sector,  government relations, consulting, or comparable experience, demonstrating the ability to work in an independent and self-reliant manner * Strong communicator, demonstrated by the ability to present in a polished and effective manner to senior business executives and other senior level interlocutors in multinational settings * Demonstrated knowledge of Australian national security and defense industry,Australian defense policy, and its regulatory environment, with an emphasis on AUKUS * Experience in client servicing, project management and autonomous execution * Team player with positive, proactive, and professional attitude; eager for professional development and open to learning * Flexibility with respect to working and communication hours, particularly when coordinating with clients and team members in Washington D.C. as well as other TAG offices in the region   Preferred Skills and Qualifications:  * Preference will be given to those candidates who, in addition to the required skills and qualifications described above, have professional experience and networks in any of the following sectors:mining and energy, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, major infrastructure, or financial services and banking. We value professionals who are proactive in exploring new ways to work smarter. Ideal candidates will be comfortable using artificial intelligence tools — or excited to learn how — to increase efficiency, enhance analysis or deliverables, and generate innovative solutions. Familiarity with generative AI platforms or a growth mindset toward emerging technologies is a plus.  Candidates must be eligible to work in Australia. Employees will work in an office environment with regular in-person meetings with our on-the-ground team and with clients. The role will require regular travel within Australia and occasional overseas travel.
