GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This purpose of this position is to provide services and information to crime victims and witnesses within the County. Collaborate with various agencies to provide safeguarding measures for victims through SC State Law. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Advise crime victims of their legal rights and maintain caseloads. Provide escort services to and from Courtroom. Assist victims with transportation needs to and from court proceedings. Provide assistance to families in court. Assist victims in the completion of required court documents. Assist victims with applications for compensation. Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of SC criminal laws and laws pertaining to crime victims; Victim Services certification; Knowledge of County policies and procedures; Basic computer skills; Good customer service and interpersonal skills; Knowledge of court procedures and ability to accurately complete legal documents; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:The educational requirement for this position is: Associate’s degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in social work, criminal justice or a closely related field. Preferred experience in related field if no college background. Education may be substituted for experience. Related-experience required: No experience required. Experience may be substituted for education. Requires over two years and up to and including four years. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include: Victim Services Certification required by the state of SC Victim services certification should be attained within one (1) year of hire date and/or based upon course availability.
