Description The Victim Advocate position, working primarily with children and their parents, is responsible for providing peer support and assisting victims of domestic violence through service management, supportive counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, lethality assessments, and follow-up services to survivors of domestic violence and their families. The Victim Advocate also assists with obtaining services from social services agencies, criminal justice system, medical and educational personnel. Victim services may also include victims of human trafficking, child abuse, and sexual assault. Requirements HS diploma or GED with at least two years applicable experience preferably working with families in crisis. Must possess strong customer-service/relationship-building skills. Experience working with victims of domestic violence, in an agency providing exclusive services to victims of domestic violence (e.g. certified centers/shelters, Family Justice Centers, state/national coalitions), or in human services field a plus. Experience in Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and data entry. Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: sexual assault or domestic violence programs. Must be able to read, write and speak English; bi-lingual capabilities a plus. A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required. Vehicle insurance must be maintained. Must meet eligibility requirements for Hubbard House, Inc. vehicle insurance coverage. Due to the serious nature of the Hubbard House mission, must successfully clear background screening: 1) a level-2 background screening which includes a criminal background check through the Department of Family and Children (DCF), Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and the National Sex Offender Registry (at a minimum); 2) a motor vehicle report (MVR) is also run against the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV); and 3) a drug, alcohol, and TB screening. Must be able to produce proof of eligibility to work in the United States (E-Verify). All duties and requirements are essential job functions. Responsibilities
