Job Title: Victim Services Specialist Department: Sixth Circuit Solicitor’s Office Reports To: Solicitor or Designee FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (to be confirmed) ---------------------------------------- General Description: Under general supervision, provides advocacy, coordination, and support services to victims of crime, witnesses, and their families. This position serves as a liaison between victims, witnesses, law enforcement, and prosecutorial staff to ensure individuals are informed of court proceedings, understand their rights under South Carolina law, and receive appropriate assistance throughout the legal process. ---------------------------------------- Essential Job Functions: * Contacts victims, witnesses, and family members to notify them of court dates and case developments * Explains court procedures and outlines rights afforded to victims under South Carolina law * Assesses victim needs and provides guidance on available services and resources * Prepares victims and witnesses for court appearances and accompanies them to hearings and trials as needed * Assists prosecutors with trial preparation and during interviews with victims and witnesses * Maintains detailed records of victim/witness contact within individual criminal case files * Updates and supplements the Case Management System to track case progress * Enters and updates information in the court docketing system * Assists with processing and maintaining investigative case files through final disposition * Responds to public inquiries and interacts professionally with individuals involved in criminal proceedings ---------------------------------------- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of basic criminal justice procedures and victim advocacy practices * Ability to communicate effectively with individuals in sensitive and stressful situations * Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment * Strong organizational and record-keeping skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications * Ability to interact professionally with the public, legal staff, and law enforcement personnel ---------------------------------------- Minimum Training and Experience: * Associate’s degree in criminal justice, social services, or a related field with relevant experience; or * Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred) ---------------------------------------- Preferred Qualifications: * At least one (1) year of experience in: * Paralegal work * Social work * Law enforcement or criminal justice * Microsoft Office applications ---------------------------------------- Physical Requirements: * Must be able to perform sedentary to light work * Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment * Must be able to communicate effectively in person and by telephone * May require extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking ---------------------------------------- Working Conditions: * Work is primarily performed in an office and courtroom environment * Frequent interaction with victims, witnesses, attorneys, and the public * Exposure to sensitive and potentially emotional situations ---------------------------------------- Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience (to be added per pay grade) ---------------------------------------- Benefits: Chester County offers a comprehensive benefits package including: * Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance * Life Insurance * Retirement Plan * Paid Time Off ---------------------------------------- Application Procedure: Interested applicants should submit a resume for consideration.
