Description
  • What makes this position specialThese videos are filmed in the talking-head format. This means that the visuals alone aren't enough. What makes the videos compelling is the combination of pacing, clear dramaturgy, clever editing, and motion design that makes scientific content visible without straining the viewer. Studies, data, comparisons, contexts.Dramaturgy isn't a bonus here; it's the toughest quality criterion. A video succeeds or fails on whether it holds its attention from beginning to end. This applies to the script, and it applies equally to the editing.TasksYou edit the Tim science documentaries on YouTube, independently from raw footage to the finished video.
  • You build suspense over typical YouTube long-form videos of over 20 minutes. You recognize where a sequence falters and resolve it in the editing process.
  • You design the motion design yourself: study overlays, data visualizations, comparison charts, lower thirds, animated transitions. Everything that visually conveys scientific substance.
  • You will work closely with the Head of Content (script) and our sports scientists (substance).
  • You're thinking about the format. Which sequence is sluggish? Where are we losing retention? You're contributing suggestions, you're not just passively accepting the information.
  • qualificationAt least 3 years of professional experience as a video editor with a focus on documentary, investigative or reportage-style content
  • Premiere Pro at a high level. Our team works in the Adobe Creative Cloud on macOS.
  • Solid motion design skills in After Effects. You don't need to be a motion design professional, but you should be confident enough to visualize scientific content independently, without relying on templates. Those with a foundation in this area can significantly expand their skills with us.
  • True YouTube understanding. You know how retention works, how hooks are constructed, why a video wins or loses after 90 seconds.
  • Experience with long-form content (at least 10 minutes long) and with formats that must support arguments: documentary, investigation, science format, reportage
  • A genuine interest in the topics of sports, training, and health is essential. Anyone wanting to edit Tim's format effectively should know what he's talking about. Otherwise, the punchlines will fall flat.
  • Self-initiative, dramaturgical thinking, and a desire for a few high-quality projects.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Stuttgart
