As a video editor (m/f/d) you are responsible for the complete film production – from filming to the finished edited clip.
You film and edit interviews for YouTube, website/app and social media, with technical precision and a feel for what works online.
You approach the editing editorially: you recognize the key moments of a conversation, instead of just cutting technically cleanly.
You coordinate closely with the Head of Video and the respective Social Media Editor to ensure that each topic gets the best possible presentation.
In the long term, you will also take on your own formats – from the initial shooting idea to the finished edit.
What you bring
Proficient use of a common video editing program, ideally DaVinci Resolve, or the willingness to quickly learn it (editing, color correction, audio mixing, subtitles)
Basic knowledge of motion graphics/lower thirds (After Effects or Canva)
A flair for design in thumbnails and covers (Figma or Canva)
Filming skills: Camera (Blackmagic, Sony, Canon), iPhone, lighting
The ability to extract precisely the 3-5 moments from a 45-minute interview that can stand on their own.
A sure sense of the difference between a teaser cut (cliffhanger) and a standalone cut that tells the story to its conclusion.
The knowledge that YouTube Shorts follow a completely different attention curve than Reels or TikTok
Several years of journalistic experience, a journalism degree or an internship are advantageous.
Great enthusiasm for online journalism and identification with independent, relevant journalism
An organized work style with good time management, even when things get hectic.
Looking for a dynamic environment – switching between the office, a media ship, and live events is not a detour for you, but part of the job.
Proactive self-initiative, equally strong on one's own as in close collaboration with the team.
