Your role
CBC Saskatchewan is looking for a full time permanent Regina-based Videographer to join our visual storytelling team. Shifts are generally assigned Monday to Friday, but work on evenings and weekends can be required. Videographers in our newsroom are a vital part of the strong editorial and production team that produces programs on our streaming, digital, social and TV platforms. This role requires someone that is a creative thinker and strong visual storyteller who brings original ideas and innovative video treatments to all platforms and has demonstrated skills capturing content at a high level.

Under the general direction of News leadership, you will operate independently, or as part of the content teams to gather, edit, package, and distribute or deliver media for CBC’s platforms including CBC GEM, social media channels, CBC News website, television and. You will capture and edit audio, video and still images in a creative way to further CBC Saskatchewan’s creative visual storytelling. You care about the people you work with and have a deep appreciation for different perspectives, opinions, and experiences. We are looking for a candidate who has the following qualifications:

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a post-secondary education and 3 years of relevant experience in TV, Media Arts, News, Documentary or Remote Broadcasting
  • Excellent level of technical knowledge and understanding of daily video news production methods.
  • Ability to operate an Electronic News Gathering (ENG) camera and associated technology such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment, and communication tools.
  • Ability to edit video and/or audio using professional grade non-linear editing software in both a production facility or in the field.
  • In depth knowledge of a variety of broadcast and prosumer video cameras.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced lighting techniques
  • Demonstrated skills in still photography and photo editing
  • Advanced Drone Pilot certificate considered an asset
  • Ability to shoot and relay live broadcast/streaming events
  • Strong knowledge of visual storytelling, including both picture composition when using the camera and content presentation during the editing process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, including excellent collaboration, communication, interpersonal and creative problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Ability to work in a sometimes stressful, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a calm, professional attitude.
  • Experience with live multi camera event production or sports broadcasts is an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, including extended hours for unforeseen overtime.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on short notice and to remote locations.
  • Ability to travel to the US or Internationally if required.
