Responsibilities

The FWLHD VAN Health Clinician (Joint Child Protection Response Program / Child Protection Counselling Service) primary purpose is working within the JCPRP tri-agency partnership and providing integrated crisis responses and ongoing counselling to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect and support for their family members.

  • Facilitate access to Local Health Districts/ Speciality Networks information in relation to JCPRP referrals and participate in JCPRP Local Planning and Response meeting.
  • Provide a consultative service in area/s of clinical expertise to local clinicians to promote consistent provision of safe high quality client centred care within the Prevention and Response Violence and Neglect (PARVAN) framework.
  • Provide clinical in-service education programs including mandatory child protection training to staff and students to facilitate learning across the team.
  • Support the domestic violence reforms across the FWLHD and act as a proxy representing the FWLHD at Safety Action Meetings (SAM).
