THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated candidate for the new role of Virtual Calibration Functional Specialist – Propulsion Thermal.

  • In this role, you will be responsible for championing the move to virtual calibration by leading adoption and refinement of simulation tools and environments for the Propulsion Thermal Calibration team.
  • The position involves in-vehicle, lab and virtual work – as needed to effectively develop the calibration environment.
  • This position is highly collaborative, involving partner teams throughout VDDV, Vehicle Performance, Validation, SMT’s and VMEC. You will be expected to work with cross-functional teams, and will be expected to handle multiple projects/priorities.
  • Travel requirements of up to 10% per year are to be expected. Typical travel locations in the US include Michigan, Colorado, California, Arizona.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and communicate requirements for calibration work, setting direction on priorities for the cross-functional team and providing feedback to the SIL and VDDV teams on model/environment quality such that simulation outputs are aligned with vehicle and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) setups.
  • Conduct calibration work using virtual simulations, developing strategies that will feed into the development of Calibration procedures, simulation configurations, and validation results.
  • Lead the evaluation of CoSimulation packages, including data reviews, simulation behavioural tests, automation methods, and authoring/execution of comprehensive test plans to assess software and simulation products at different system levels.
  • Support continuous improvement of simulation fidelity and calibration efficiency.
  • Lead, Innovate, and develop new ways of completing calibration standard work using Lab, Virtual or other methods.
  • Mentor modeling engineers and virtual calibration team on how to create efficient, well-correlated models and test plans. Provide expertise and guidance to the team to identify and resolve product problems; contribute and guide the team knowledge base so corner case situations and other learnings can be retained and shared.
  • Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management.
