THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated candidate for the new role of Virtual Calibration Specialist– Propulsion Thermal.

  • As a Virtual Thermal Calibration Specialist, you will engage in the integration and simulation of full-vehicle thermal systems using advanced modeling tools. This role is pivotal in transitioning to virtual engineering environments, enabling efficient design, validation, and calibration of thermal systems across ICE, xEV, and BEV platforms.
  • The position involves in-vehicle, lab and virtual work – as needed to effectively develop the calibration environment.
  • This position is highly collaborative, involving partner teams throughout VDDV, Vehicle Performance, Validation, SMT’s and VMEC. You will be expected to work with cross-functional teams, and will be expected to handle multiple projects/priorities
  • Travel requirements of up to 10% per year are to be expected. Typical travel locations in the US include Michigan, Colorado, California, Arizona.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adopt full-vehicle co-simulation integration using tools like GT-Suite, MATLAB/Simulink, AMESIM, CarSim, and CarMaker.
  • Develop and calibrate cross-functional simulation packages for the propulsion thermal system providing feedback to the SIL and VDDV teams on model/environment quality such that simulation outputs are aligned with vehicle and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) setups.
  • Conduct calibration work using virtual simulations, working with the Calibration Technical Specialists and Virtual Calibration Functional Specialist to develop strategies that will feed into Calibration procedures, simulation configurations, and validation results.
  • Support continuous improvement of simulation fidelity and calibration efficiency.
  • Investigate and develop new ways of completing calibration standard work using Lab, Virtual or other methods.
  • Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management.
