The Virtual School Coordinator is responsible for the daily management, oversight, and continuous improvement of the GEO Next Generation High School Flex Academy virtual program. This role ensures that students, teachers, and families are supported in a high-quality online learning environment aligned with Louisiana state requirements and GEO’s mission of preparing students for college and career success.The coordinator serves as the primary point of contact and liaison between the school and virtual students, ensuring clear communication, strong engagement, and consistent support throughout the virtual learning experience. Key Responsibilities: Program Leadership & Management Oversee the implementation and daily operations of the Flex Academy virtual program Ensure alignment with Louisiana Department of Education policies for virtual instruction and attendance Develop and maintain systems for student tracking, progress monitoring, and program accountability Collaborate with school leadership to set goals and improve program outcomes Student Support & Engagement Serve as the primary liaison between the school and virtual students, ensuring consistent communication and support Monitor student attendance, engagement, and academic progress Implement intervention strategies for at-risk students Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new virtual students and families Maintain consistent communication with students and parents regarding expectations and progress Instructional Support Support virtual teachers with instructional best practices and digital learning platforms Monitor course completion, grading timelines, and instructional quality Facilitate professional development for virtual staff Ensure curriculum implementation aligns with state standards and school goals Compliance & Reporting Ensure accurate attendance reporting in accordance with Louisiana virtual school policy Maintain student records in SIS (e.g., PowerSchool) Prepare reports related to enrollment, attendance, and academic performance Support state testing coordination (LEAP 2025, ACT, etc.) for virtual students Technology & Systems Coordination Oversee use of learning platforms (e.g., Edgenuity, Google Classroom, Study Island, etc.) Troubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate with IT support Ensure students and staff have access to required digital tools and resources Family & Community Engagement Serve as liaison between the school and virtual families Provide training/resources to help families support student success in a virtual environment Coordinate meetings, workshops, and check-ins with parents/guardians Requirements Required Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field Valid Louisiana teaching certificate (or eligibility) Minimum of 3 years of teaching or school-based experience Experience with virtual/online learning platforms Preferred Experience in virtual program coordination or school leadership Knowledge of Louisiana accountability systems and LEAP assessments Experience with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool) Counseling experience (preferred), with the ability to support student social-emotional needs, academic planning, and postsecondary reading
