Visban is seeking an Engineering Director/Vice President (depending on experience) to lead the architecture, design, and development of millimeter-wave (mmWave) hardware products, including RF modules, antennas, and integrated radio systems such as repeaters. This role bridges RF engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing, and system integration to deliver high- performance, cost-effective mmWave devices for commercial deployment. The position requires strong technical leadership, hands-on design experience, and the ability to manage cross-functional development from concept through mass production. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in RF/device engineering, with the ability to understand and evaluate trade-offs across wireless systems, hardware devices, and software-based control systems. You will work directly with the CEO and executive team, acting as the company’s technical authority for mmWave device architecture and execution. Key Responsibilities Technical & Product Ownership Define and execute the development strategy for Visban’s mmWave RF devices (24–100 GHz) including both hardware, firmware and operating software. Lead development of end-to-end device designs, including subsystems, integration, enclosure, firmware/software, thermal design, packaging, and manufacturability. Lead testing, debugging and optimization of Visban devices prior to release for commercial production. Identify critical technical risks from prototype through mass production and define mitigation strategies. Ensure alignment between technology roadmap, product roadmap, and business requirements. Organization & Execution Lead and grow a world-class, multifunctional engineering team with capabilities in high frequency RF design, system integration, firmware and operating software. Define hiring priorities, team structure, and evaluation criteria. Own annual development budgets and resource allocation. Drive execution discipline across development milestones and priorities. Technically lead and coordinate external vendors, manufacturing partners, and research institutions. Executive & External Engagement Partner closely with the CEO and executive team on technology and product strategy. Represent Visban in technical discussions with investors, enterprise customers, and overseas partners. Communicate complex technical topics clearly in both English and Japanese. Required 5-10 years of engineering management experience leading multi-discipline hardware and software development teams. Extensive experience in RF or wireless device development and commercialization with wireless network operators. Proven experience delivering commercial products, not research-only prototypes, to wireless network operators and other partners/customers. Experience leading device development from prototype through mass production. Engineering leadership experience with ownership of technical decision-making. Masters or higher degree in in a relevant technical field. Business-level proficiency in English and Japanese. Optional Prior experience as VP, Director, or senior technical leader in start-up or larger company. Direct experience with 5G, FWA, mmWave repeaters, or phased-array systems. Overseas working experience. Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners. PhD in a relevant technical field
