POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Early Childhood and Childhood Education at Mercy University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2025–2026 academic year. This full-time, non-tenure-track appointment also includes serving as Undergraduate Program Coordinator for the School of Education.
We are seeking a collaborative, student-centered educator who brings both teaching expertise and leadership ability. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality instruction while supporting the organization, communication, and continuous improvement of the undergraduate teacher preparation programs. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Familiarity with teacher certification standards and state education requirements, particularly in New York
• Commitment to equity, access, and culturally responsive education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience teaching in higher education and/or coordinating teacher preparation programs
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience in P–6 settings
• Knowledge of accreditation processes (e.g., CAEP) and assessment practices
• Familiarity with special education as well as early childhood/childhood education
