The Department of Childhood, Youth and Community is keen to hear from experienced tutors with a commitment to either Early Childhood, Family Work, Youth and Community Work or Education Studies, who are interested in taking on the role of Visiting Lecturer. This role will involve teaching (which includes assessment and marking of coursework) on a range of undergraduate programmes in the department, as well as providing pastoral and academic support to our students. In the current climate we are looking for tutors who will make a commitment to both face-to-face teaching in the Autumn Term at our City South Campus and remote teaching. As such tutors must be confident and capable of developing online teaching resources as well as using MS Teams and Moodle for both synchronous and asynchronous teaching. At Birmingham City University, we are dedicated to providing our students with the very best learning and teaching opportunities to help them develop both professionally and personally.
You will be working with a supportive and experienced team, who are all committed to children and young people, and the developing portfolio of the department.
You must hold at least a first degree in a related subject and have previous experience of teaching in HE/FE.
In applying for this vacancy you will be submitting your details to a Visiting Lecturer recruitment pool. Please note that Visiting Lecturer posts are part time, fixed term contracts for which a specific amount of hours work will be agreed between you and the Faculty. Visiting Lecturer posts are paid hourly and there are a range of pay rates dependant on the role.
As and when relevant teaching hours become available that your CV and experience are suitable for, you will be contacted by the Faculty directly to discuss in more detail. Please be aware that you are not guaranteed to hear back from the Faculty.
Recruitment pools will be closed at the end of September each year, at which point you will be contacted with an invite to resubmit your details for the following year’s recruitment pool if you would still like to be considered.
