A Typical Day The Visitors Center Tour Guide is responsible for greeting customers and providing excellent tours of all types to convey the messages of Hilmar and the dairy industry along with assisting in the daily visitor center retail, café and catering operations. Job Responsibilities Provide positive, friendly, excellent customer service Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the agriculture and dairy industries Organize, teach/guide and convey information to groups using a variety of tactics appropriate for the age of the group Competent team member to facilitate multiple tours at one time Provide proper serving etiquette during an event Demonstrate basic numeric understanding to open and close cash register, accurately count money, process a sale, collect money and provide correct change Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe work environment Understand first in, first out rotation to ensure freshness of products Keeps current about Hilmar Cheese Company and visitor center catering, tours, cafe and retail information to answer customer questions. Prepare food and beverages with required ingredients and equipment Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates. Performs a variety of additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to evolving operational needs What You Will Need English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution Food Handler Certification (within 30 days of employment) Must be able to work weekends Ability to lift up to 50lbs What Will Put You Ahead Public speaking experience through a job, 4-H or FFA Experience working with groups of children Experience with a cash register Basic computer experience to complete online forms Physical Demands & Work Environment The role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis. Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations.
