Position Title: Visual Fields Technician- Dean McGee Eye Institute - Oklahoma Health Center Department: General Overhead Job Description: The Visual Fields Technician performs visual field testing to map a patient's central and peripheral vision to identify blind spots or other vision problems. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Performs visual field testing ordered by a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider. Completes patient assessments including preliminary and diagnostic testing including visual acuity, patient history, lensometry if needed and visual fields in accordance with established protocols. Prepare patients for testing by explaining the test, answering questions and ensuring the patient is comfortable. Ensure proper technique when administering tests. Provide accurate results to the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider to aid in diagnosing and managing various eye conditions. Clean equipment and testing areas General Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: No experience required. License/Certification/Registration: None required. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to operate and calibrate visual field instruments accurately. Proficiency with electronic health records and general computer skills. Understanding of HIPAA regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to comfort patients. Ability to work within a team. Strong attention to detail.
