The Department of Environmental Quality is looking to fill an Environmental Scientist III position in the Division of Air Quality. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on experience and the job level offered within the series.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Validate data collected from Automated Gas Chromatograph (AutoGC) instruments located at State air monitoring sites.
• Examine patterns and trends in air pollution and meteorological data.
• Read and follow federal, state and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Communicate data issues to air monitoring staff. Present key findings to coworkers and agency stakeholders.

BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE

The best qualified candidate will have the following:

• Experience analyzing volatile organic compound (VOC) or other ambient pollution data
• Working experience with programming in Python, R, or similar language.
• Prior experience in a data validation or quality assurance role.
• Experience working with Federal and/or State regulations. Willingness to adhere to standard operating procedures.
• Should be detail oriented; able to document information clearly and consistently.
• Effectively and professionally communicate data issues to coworkers.
