Genesis Medical College is a private vocational college offering programs to healthcare providers leading to the initial and renewal of licensure and certification. GMC offers hybrid instruction for most programs and courses. GMC offers a Vocational Nursing program (upon approval) and other allied health programs.
Genesis Medical College is currently seeking Clinical Nursing Faculty (RN/LVN) for the Vocational Nursing programat ourTustin Campus, with part-time positions available in one or more content areas.
The Vocational Nursing program provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for eligibility to take the NCLEX-PN/VN examination for licensing as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in California. The vocational program of nursing is looking for a team player who is committed to attaining the VN Program’s standards.
The successful candidate will be prepared to teach all related courses’ skills in the classroom and/or the clinical setting, work to promote student success, and promote student engagement in the program. Content areas of instruction include nursing fundamentals, med-surg, OB/Gyn, Geriatrics, Leadership, Mental Health. Faculty plan classes, develop implement, and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes, and participate in the evaluation, revision, and development of curriculum. Faculty report directly to the Director of Vocational Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current active CA Nursing license, RN or LVN.
  • Faculty shall meet the requirements of A or B, below:
    (A) Registered Nurse:
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience in a state-approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse within the last five years.
    (B) Licensed Vocational Nurse:
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience in a state-approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and
  1. Have a minimum of two years of experience as a vocational nurse within the last five years.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft office suite especially word and excel, proficient computer skills, very comfortable with technology

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the Learning Management System, instructional technology, computer programs, and other computerized teaching tools as needed for their areas of responsibility in didactic and/or clinical and/or administration.
  • At the clinical rotation site, ensure that students can apply classroom theory and knowledge to real-world situations.
  • Set expectations to help students understand their role, formal and informal.
  • Delegate patient care responsibilities to students as they progress in their learning.
  • Set goals for students that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (SMART), e.g., improved communication, increased medical knowledge, and enhanced organizational skills.
  • Be an expert role model to students by sharing your clinical experience and knowledge, using effective learning strategies, and identifying learning opportunities.
  • Evaluate student learning in mastering the classroom learning objectives.
  • Teach assigned classes in a Clinical Setting for our Vocational Nursing program.
  • Meet with didactic and clinical faculty members to discuss program progress and development.
  • Support the Director of Vocational Nursing Program or designee in the organization of the program and implementation of the program’s standards.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations on students and clinical sites.
  • Keep official records, collect data, and forms, and submit records by deadlines as required by GMC policy and administrative procedures.
  • Participate in Faculty meetings and other GMC committees per the Faculty Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.
