The Employment Specialist provides individualized job placement and support services to individuals receiving public mental health services. Based at a local mental health agency, they work both as part of that agency’s team and as part of a statewide initiative to advance employment for individuals with mental illness. They also serve as a liaison to employers, developing business and community relationships in their local area.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Master’s Degree in education, counseling, or social services or Bachelor’s degree plus five years’ experience in vocational counseling / rehabilitation required.
  • License/Certifications: Current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and/or DMH Employment Specialist Certification or obtain certification within six months from hire date required.
  • Experience: Five years’ experience in related field required.
