Position Summary: WellPower's Vocational Trainee program provides experience to individuals who have a mental illness and who wish to learn a job or vocation. The goal of the program is to help individuals obtain work related skills and experiences that will lead to regular employment in the communities where they live. Due to the large number of applicants, not every applicant will be selected for an interview or hired- selection is fit focused to meet program needs. If selected, each program provide 9-11 months of learning experiences meant to support preparation for competitive employment. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications. Job Duties & Functions: • Label tags & prepare items for Shopette. • Process incoming donations through inspection, cleaning, testing and organizing according to warehouse procedures. • Organize and restock goods in our shop, & assist with basic inventory checks. • Monitor inventory levels by identifying low stock, damaged items, or misplaced products. • Learn layout and product location • Maintain necessary records of work and supplies. • Abide by safety practices in a warehouse setting. • Support other staff and departments as needed. • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing and understanding. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by wiping surfaces and keeping isles clean. • Other duties assigned. Learning Objectives & Competencies to be Gained: 1. Develop professional and empathetic communication skills A. Gain tools to remain calm and respond during a “crisis” (a situation is escalating; a person is upset or there is a medical emergency etc.) B. Gain confidence in communicating challenges and ideas to co-workers, supervisors, and managers C. Communicate tardiness and absences in a timely manner to front desk and direct supervisor D. Communicate with fellow coworkers & supervisors in a professional and mindful manner. 2. Maintain sense of safety for one’s self and others A. Communicate needs of safety to fellow coworkers and supervisors and address safety concerns immediately B. Communicate and alert Supervisor of any falls, injuries, slips, or messes that need attention. 3. Uphold and communicate ethical standards of practice A. Conduct honest processing and storage of products B. Enjoy personal shopping during allotted time. C. Communicate any unethical behaviors to direct supervisor or manager 4. Care for practical needs of the Inventory Department based on ‘Work Station’ A. Work Station Area (1) - Bottling Liquid Cleaning Products (ex: laundry soap, dish soap, hand soap & fabric softener) B. Work Station Area (2) – Process Incoming Donations C. Work Station Area (3) - Special Products Processing D. Work Station Area (4) - Processing Special Items and Special Events E. Work Station Area (5) - Processing Clothing Requirements & Qualifications: Actively enrolled in and receiving services by WellPower. Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, sometimes in confined spaces or at heights. Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures is common.
