SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Vocational Training Teacher to join our team. This role is vital in shaping the educational experiences of our older students, helping them learn functional job skills and help them to reach their full potential as a meaningful member of our community through variety of opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing individualized plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Implement programs in a systematic and consistent way.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation.
  • Collaborate with parents, therapists, and support staff to enhance student learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Foster social skills development through structured activities and interactions.
  • Actively seek community involvement to create opportunities to explore job skills outside of AIM.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Engage with the broader community to raise awareness about autism.
  • Create events and campaigns to bring our adult students out to promote our program and generalize their skills.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, preferably with a focus on Applied Behaviour Analysis.
  • Hands on experience working with children with autism or special needs clients.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Compassionate approach towards teaching and understanding diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all students.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and support a team of instructors in delivering high-quality vocational training.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and families.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle conflict effectively.
