JOB SUMMARY:

The chosen candidate will be responsible for: providing group and individual facilitation and ongoing support as a generalist in the program; facilitating team(s) by planning and implementing clerical, food preparation, social, recreational and educational programs with the members of the program; collaborating with other community agencies that provide services to this population.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Diploma in human service field, preferably certification as a Mental Health Worker, Psychosocial Rehabilitation practitioner and two years’ experience in supported vocational/educational setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience and one-year recent experience working with people with mental health issues or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, the Recovery Model and application of the Strengths Model.
  • Skill in working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness by facilitating individualized goal-oriented activities within a Clubhouse program or similar vocational experience.
  • Experience working with young adults with mental illness an asset.
  • Sensitive to the issues facing clients with mental illnesses, substance misuse, cultural diversity.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, decision-making, coaching, human-relations such as a genuine concern and respect for mental health clients.
  • Knowledge of community resources is essential.
  • Demonstrated group facilitation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required.
  • Class 4 BC Unrestricted Driver’s License; Reliable personal vehicle with business insurance and $3,000,000 third-party legal liability insurance required.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating system and MS Word; familiarity with an electronic case management system is preferred.
  • Documentation on CAMS and PARIS.
  • Successful Criminal Record Check.
    HOURS OF WORK: This is a Regular Part time positions -35 hours per week - Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm; start and finish times may vary and flexibility with hours of work is required to meet client and program needs as determined by the Program Supervisor.
