Description
Working Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week - Mon to Fri Field Technical Specialist, within a Network Engineering team. Accountable within their geographic region to support liaising with customer, creating accurate requirements for subsequent installation, commissioning, and handover of new services to Operations. Role also requires 24/7 fault cover (when on call) for multiple network types (IP/DWDM), which provide service to Government Customers. Support may be required throughout the UK, but will be predominantly around the specific geographical area in the job title. The role will be providing support to other areas such as IP, Transmission and/or Cyber services. Support managed services delivery in VBSE and in particular take responsibility as lead Field technical specialist for all VBSE services across customer and network sites within geographical area of operation. Interpret complex designs and own the requirement to survey/install managed services. Collaborate with Sell, Build, Run operations to ensure all aspects of equipment installation, commissioning and testing are fully supported. Keep site information and documentation up-to-date, including detailed recording on inventory systems (DCIM) where appropriate, in line with VBSE requirements. Experienced in IP & DWDM networks in a Telecoms Provider environment and be flexible to adapt to wider service delivery requirements. Should be able to effectively use Telecoms test equipment that is relevant to support the roles duties. Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods, setting own goals, priorities and responsibilities. Experience in Cisco/Ciena/Juniper configuration to install and commission IP and Optical platforms. Telecommunications related industry recognised professional qualification such as CCNA/CCNP (or equivalent) or the ability to demonstrate equivalent hands-on knowledge. Be able to maintain Customer confidentiality and ability to hold Developed Vetting (DV) level security clearance.
