The Joe Ferrante Music Academy in beautiful Old Town Monrovia (10 minutes east of Pasadena on the 210 freeway) is hiring qualified voice instructors.
A college degree in music is NOT required. Many of our best teachers are performers who have 10+ years of experience, are great with children and have an outgoing personality.
We are Monrovia’s fastest growing music school having taught more than 25,000+ students in our 21 years in Old Town. We offer competitive pay, take care of all administration, payments and marketing. We have experienced, considerate and professional management, and we offer unique dress up themed recital opportunities to all students, a robust awards program with 10 levels of achievement, a nationally acclaimed practice incentive program, a monthly newsletter your student(s) can be featured in, as well as progress reports, certificates and trophies to assist with student development and parental involvement in our vibrant community.
We have a strong pro-teacher culture and many of our instructors have told us this is the best school they have ever worked in!

It’s a great position for talented musicians who are looking for steady work and who have a love for working with people. Most of our teaching positions require availability to teach two days per week to start. We are open Mon-Fri 1-8pm and Sat 9am-3:30pm, Sun 12pm-8pm. If you would like additional teaching, up to four days per week can be made available over time, as you grow here.
Joe Ferrante Music Academy is a wonderful, creative environment of professionals teaching a wide range of instruments, styles and genres. We are located in a quaint shopping district of restaurants and specialty stores in the heart of Old Town Monrovia, a very desirable area to visit. There are many wonderful, talented students to begin teaching here at JFMA. We handle all student scheduling, phone and written communication with clients, all customer service, including tuition payments and day to day logistics, and provide beautiful, colorful teaching suites for you to work in with a real acoustic piano in every room and super-fast Wi-Fi, allowing you to just focus on being the best teacher you can be!
Other duties include giving simple musical tests and handing out practice incentive rewards including bracelets, certificates and trophies on the Musical Ladder system (we will train you how to do this), completing STEP Reports (kind of like student report cards), and preparing, encouraging and enrolling students in recitals and attending JFMA events your students perform in to cheer them on.
We recommend 2 years private teaching experience to apply, although if you have less experience but meet the other requirements, you will be considered. Our lessons are taught one on one and consist of children ages 5-17 typically. You will also have adults ages 18 and over at times, but in smaller quantities.
Pay is $25-30/hr for qualified teachers, commensurate with education and experience plus room to grow in the future. JFMA pays teachers as W-2 Employees so we will also contribute an additional 7.65% on top of your regular pay towards your social security and medicare cost, which if you were paid as a 1099 sub-contractor at another school, you would be responsible to pay that 7.65% yourself as part of your 15.3% self-employment tax each year when you file your tax return! Working at JFMA takes away this worry, saving you money at tax time. Please note, if you do not meet all the requirements for the position you may be offered employment at a reduced rate.
