VoIP/Network Engineer - Expert This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance. Cherokee Preting is seeking a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Engineer to work as part of a collaborative, multidiscipline team in support of U.S. Government and provide technical expertise in the field of network engineering and VoIP. The VoIP Engineer shall possess a mix of technical skills in networking (TCP/IP, QoS, LAN/WAN), VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, H.323), and platforms (Cisco, Asterisk, 3CX), alongside soft skills like problem-solving, communication, and troubleshooting using tools like Wireshark for complex call routing, security (SBCs, TLS), and cloud integration to design, implement, and maintain voice systems. VoIP/Network Engineer - Expert Responsibilities Include: Design and implement Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) Configure and trouble-shoot LAN Switches, Routers, and Firewalls and VPN concentrators. Convey technical designs, ideas and results to non-technical audiences and provide briefings to high-level government personnel. Author documents (reports, briefings, etc,) to support customer missions. Apply the engineering design process to discover innovative methods to solve technical problems and meet client requirements. Performs other job-related duties as assigned VoIP/Network Engineer - Expert Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Current TS/SCI with polygraph Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree. 7-10 years of relevant experience designing communications systems. Strong background in Microsoft Systems Engineering and providing support to those systems. Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP Networking Advanced experience with Voice and Video technologies (engineering vs implementation) Possesses a mix of technical skills in networking (TCP/IP, QoS, LAN/WAN), VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, H.323), and platforms (Cisco, Asterisk, 3CX), alongside soft skills like problem-solving, communication, and troubleshooting using tools like Wireshark for complex call routing, security (SBCs, TLS), and cloud integration to design, implement, and maintain voice systems. Strong knowledge of virtualization products with a focus on Hyper-V. Proficiency in scripting languages with a focus on PowerShell. Experience with McAfee product suite. Demonstrated capacity to understand and communicate technical ideas, concepts, and thoughts across multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to independently determine and develop approach to solutions. Must have knowledge of Cisco Routing and Switching, and network architecture planning. Must have knowledge of remote administration and secure Virtual Private Networking. Must understand commercial encryption standards and their application in IP networking. Must have knowledge of VPN technologies, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IP Multicasting Must have knowledge of voice and video solutions to include Cisco, Polycom, and Avaya configuration management and endpoint management including SIP and H.323 protocols. Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
