OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Voluntary Director to join our Board of Directors to ensure the effective safeguarding of all children and young people in our care. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting staff with safeguarding questions and queries, whilst fostering a supportive environment where questions are welcomed and encouraged. This position requires strong management skills, strong relationship skills and extensive safeguarding experience. The ideal candidate will also be friendly, approachable and have a commitment to the ongoing development of a new and upcoming CIC.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in management or supervisory roles.
  • Background in education, social work or working with children and young people is essential.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff and stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in safeguarding children and young people is essential.
    This role requires someone to be availible to attend meetings with the Directors to advise on matters based around our quality assurance, and as an “on-call” where staff need advise on safeguarding issues. It is not a regular, full-time commitment but more a willingness to be availible in the background, should exterptise and guidance be required.

Responsibilities
  • Be availible as an “on-call” via the telephone should any staff need advice and support on serious safeguarding issues.
  • Follow policies and procedures and respond to incidents or emergencies as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and manage strategies that support individuals to feel confident in managing safeguarding and risk.
  • Maintain accurate records of any activities, incidents, and observations.
  • Foster positive relationships with individuals, staff, and external stakeholders through effective communication and engagement.
  • Provide supervision and support to staff working directly with children, ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices.
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to the successful running of the business, including making recomendations for best practice.
